Retro RePost: Nickelodeon's Salute Your Shorts

We just kicked off Camp YesterYear on Monday morning, and there's no better way to keep the mood going than by learning about the hit 90s kids show from Nickelodeon about summer camp... Salute Your Shorts!

"Salute Your Shorts" is a beloved sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon from 1991 to 1992.  Set in the fictional summer camp of Camp Anawanna, the show revolves around a group of mischievous teenage campers.  Camp Counselor Kevin "Ug" Lee (get it?), the show follows the teens as they navigate the challenges of summer camp, from strict camp rules to forming friendships or rivalries.

The quirky characters and relatable situations captured the hearts of my generation of kids in the 90s.  The show is remembered for its humorous and relatable storytelling, which captures the essence of summer camp fun. Even 32 years after its original airing, the show continues to be cherished by fans as a nostalgic icon of Nickelodeon's golden age of programming.

This story even went semi-viral when it was first posted to The Retro Network during the summer of 2020!  Venus DeMilo Thomas, the actress who played Telly Radford, even commented on TRN's Instagram post!

Speaking of the old Retro Network (now Geekster), recently, on one of their podcasts, "Remember that Show?" Adam and Will did an excellent job covering Salute Your Shorts in episode 12.  Feel free to give that episode a listen HERE or anywhere you download your podcasts.

After that, please come back here and click HERE to read about Salute Your Shorts!
