Syfy's Twilight Zone Marathon and WPIX Honeymooner's Marathon on New Year's Eve

It's hard to say New Year's Eve is my favorite holiday because, well, it isn't.  I couldn't care less about the big parties and fancy affairs, but I enjoy celebrating the birth of a new year.  I just like to celebrate it from the warmth of my home with my family, some good television, and food.  I'd say good food, but we left "good" food behind when we moved away from New York.

It was our annual tradition to order a metric ton of Chinese food and stuff ourselves silly, but now that we live in an area not known for good take-out, or any good food, really, we do the best with what we have.

I also like to stay in instead of venturing out. I've attended parties, events, and activities, which were fun for their time, but staying home is more comfortable (and safer).

As a lifelong New Yorker, I always questioned the sanity of those standing in Times Square on New Year's Eve.  I get that it's "New Year's in New York City," but it's often bitterly cold, and even before 9-11 and all of the security around the ball drop, you would have to enter Times Square before noon and not leave.  Restaurants and stores wouldn't provide restrooms unless you were buying stuff, if they stayed open at all.  It just seemed uncomfortable and not much fun, but to each their own!

As I mentioned above, one of my favorite things to do is to catch some good television as I'm frequently able to be home for a long weekend.  It's harder to do now with a kid in the house, but we used to binge-watch marathon after marathon.  Between Christmas and New Year's, it was tradition to watch Breaking Bad from start to finish, and after New Year's, we'd frequently start in again on The Sopranos.  On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, we'd watch only two things:

Twilight Zone and The Honeymooners.

If you've found this article looking for information on this year's marathons, have no fear!  You can read about the Twilight Zone marathon and its episode schedule HERE at the SyFy website.  For those who'd rather see it here, just read on!  And for those not interested in the Twilight Zone marathon, just keep scrolling!

Also, for those who get the "Heroes & Icons Network," this channel will host a Twilight Zone marathon from New Year's Eve at 8PM Eastern thru January 2nd.  Click HERE to see if you get Heroes & Icons.

Unfortunately, for the Honeymooners marathon on WPIX in New York, you'll have to be in the New York area or have a VPN to trick streaming services into thinking you are temporarily in New York to watch it.  You can check the schedule HERE on WPIX 11's website, or read below.  The marathon does not start until 12:30AM on the 1st this year and only runs until 5:00PM.  Gone are the days of the two-day-long marathon, I suppose.

  1. I have yet to ever partake in the Twilight Zone New Year's marathon. I love the show though, and stream a few episodes every so often. From the list of what was shown this year, I think my favorite of the bunch is The Prime Mover with Buddy Ebson.

As for the Honeymooners, I love the show, but have never had access to the channels that show the marathon.

  2. It seems like this years Honeymooners marathon on WPIX is going to be the last year. If not, its certainly on its death bed. There is a youtube account that has all of the episodes on a playlist, but we'll see how long that lasts.

I'm not familiar with that episode of Twilight Zone, I'll have to check it out!
